Anyone who had followed me for a little while will know that I love visiting Morzine during the summer.
The Alpine village is one of our favourite places to go as a family with dozens of activities to enjoy from swimming and hiking to biking, paddle boarding and paragliding. But all these activities can add up, especially when you are a family of five.
So, if you plan to be in French Alps for your summer holiday, then I cannot recommend the MultiPass Portes du Soleil enough. The Multi Pass scheme allows you to experience an huge array of indoor and outdoor activities in the 12 Portes du Soleil resorts all from just €3 per person per day.

The Portes du Soleil area is packed full of summer activities that the whole family can enjoy. We base ourselves in Morzine and spend our days swimming in the outdoor pool, jumping on the Wibit in the lake at Les Gets and paddle boarding on the Lac du Montriond.
Occasionally, I even manage to persuade the kids to go hiking!
The Portes du Soleil MultiPass allows us to do all this and more while saving money. Plus, it has given us free access to numerous activities that we hadn’t tried before including most recently, white water rafting with AN Rafting.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Multipass Portes du Soleil, including how much it costs, how to buy it and why it is a summer essential.

About the Portes du Soleil
The Portes du Soleil area covers 12 resorts located between Mont Blanc in France and Lake Geneva in Switzerland.
The region has always been popular during winter months but in recent years they’ve become increasingly well-known as a summer destination with a wide range of activities on offer from hiking and rafting to swimming, ice rinks, wild camping and even crazy golf.
Les Gets in particular is famous for mountain biking. It’s the largest biking area in Europe with 128km of marked trails for every level of biker. There are a number of MTB schools in town if you are beginner, or you simply want someone to guide you through the huge variety of trails.

How does the Multi Pass save you money?
The multi pass really does provide substantial savings.
Take the swimming pool in Morzine for example; regular entry costs €9 per adult and €6 per child aged between 5 – 17 years for a single entry. For MultiPass holders, however, entry is free.
The card also offers discounts in places.
For example, in Les Gets you can receive a 10% discount when booking with Les Gets Parapente (Les Gets Paragliding) if you have the MultiPass and in Morzine you are eligible to 10% off the summer toboggan run.
In Avoriaz you get a 10% discount on the 18-hole golf course and in Montriond / Saint Jean D’Aulps you can access a discount at the Indiana ‘Ventures, which offers paintball and an adventure climbing course.
White water rafting is another activity where you can save money; the multi pass gives you 15% off the total cost, which represents a significant saving.

How the Multipass Portes du Soleil works
There are three different MultiPass Portes du Soleil options to choose from:
The Day Visitor MultiPass
If you’re only going to be in Morzine (or one of the other Portes du Soleil resorts) for the day and really want to maximise your time then the Day MultiPass cards are your best option. These are for sale online and at the lift ticket offices in Avoriaz, Champéry, Châtel, Les Crosets, Les Gets, Morgins, Morzine, St-Jean d’Aulps.
You can also purchase them in the Abondance and La Chapelle d’Abondance Tourist Offices. Remember to keep your receipt of purchase given at the cash desk.
These cost €14 per person for the day and give you access to a multitude of activities. *Note there is also a compulsory €1.50 smart card charge.
The Season MultiPass
If you’re planning on spending a longer time in the Portes du Soleil region then the Season Multipass is your best bet. These cost €100 for adults (over the age of 25) and €70 (*) for young people (aged 5 to 25).
The MultiPass Sejour
The MultiPass Sejour is by far and away the most effective way to save money. This holiday multi-pass option is for visitors looking to spend a week or longer in the Portes du Soleil region, the only catch is that you must be staying at a MultiPass participating accommodation provider.
It’s very straightforward, however, all that is required is for the accommodation provider to complete a voucher which you then present at one of the lift pass desks. You are then able to purchase the multi-activity card for €3 per day per person for the entire duration of your stay!
It’s worth checking with your accommodation provider when you book to make sure that they are registered as a multi pass provider.
If you’re staying in one of the other resorts of the Portes du Soleil not listed above such as Les Crosets or Val D’Illez then a MultiPass is still available as long as you are staying with a participating host. Your accommodation provider will give you the Multi Pass for the duration of your stay.

White Water Rafting with the Portes du Soleil Multi Pass
We have been visiting Morzine for years but this summer was the first time we tried white water rafting. We booked with AN Rafting who offer a number of fun river-based activities including canyoning, hydro speed, and rafting.
We booked an early morning slot and headed to the meeting point along the Route des Grandes Alpes in Féternes on a summer Sunday morning. There, we met our guide and were given all the equipment we needed. The good news is that you only need to bring a swimsuit and towel and AN Rafting will provide everything else, including wetsuits, water shoes, life jackets and helmets.
Following a safety briefing, which included sitting in a raft and practicing moving about the boat, we took a short ride in the AN Rafting minibus to the start of our descent.

Because we are a family of five, we had a raft to ourselves, led by our guide, Touille.
The water levels were not terribly high when we visited but there was more than enough water to enjoy what felt like some fairly adventurous rapids. Touille shouted instructions as we paddled furiously, attempting to manoeuvre around rocks and navigate the white water.
He was a fantastic guide, encouraging us to have fun and ambush other rafts on the river by splashing them with our paddles and rescuing me when I managed to fall overboard during one descent. Our final stop was back at the AN Rafting base camp.
Altogether the experience took just under three hours and we all loved it, and agreed that we will definitely try again next time we are in Morzine.
Some other helpful tips to know:
- There are changing rooms on site.
- Wear your swimsuit underneath your clothes when you arrive, so you only have to put a wetsuit on top.
- Don’t forget to bring a towel!
- And makes sure you have sun cream on.
- AN Rafting also have lockers for any valuables that you want to leave.
- They will also look after your car keys.
- Every guide has a GoPro on their helmet and photos and videos are available to purchase at the end of your adventure.
- The Portes du Soleil Multi Pass gives you a 15% discount at AN Rafting.
