I don’t know about you but I am really enjoying the longer days – although a little bit more sunshine would be nice! London’s famous cherry blossoms aren’t quite in bloom yet (come back in early April to enjoy these) but the white and purple crocus bulbs appearing in London parks including Hyde Park and Regent’s Park promise that the arrival of spring season – and Easter – are just around the corner.
This is a great time of the year to be in the city – not only are popular sights and famous landmarks such as the London Eye, the Tower of London, Big Ben, the Sky Garden and Madame Tussauds less busy but there are some really fun things to do in London in March too. Here are our top picks!

- Don’t forget that it’s also Mother’s Day in March! Treat your mum to a traditional afternoon tea to celebrate on Sunday 30 March.
- Sunday 23 March marks National Puppy Day, head to one of these dog cafes to celebrate!
- Sunday 30 March marks the start of British Summer Time when the clocks go forward. Yes, you lose out on a hour of sleep but we can all enjoy longer daylight hours going forward.
- Typically the Boat Race, the famous river race between Cambridge University and Oxford, takes place in March along the River Thames between Putney and Mortlake in West London. This year, however, the race is taking place on 13 April.

Big Egg Hunt
See if you can find all 100 egg sculptures scattered around central London this month during the Big Egg Hunt. Decorated by famous names including Mr Doodles, Anya Hindmarch and artist Philip Colbert, you can tick off the 2ft tall egg sculptures on a handy app and possibly win a prize.
The Big Egg Hunt takes place 24 March to 27 April.
Gold Bunny Hunt
Head to Hampton Court Palace this month and you may come across a gold bunny or two. The Gold Bunny Hunt runs to the palace grounds from 19 March to 21 April; look on their red ribbons for their names and then pick up a chocolate prize.
The Orchid Festival at Kew Gardens
Did you know that Peru is one of the most biodiverse countries on Earth, home to 3,000 species of orchid? Celebrate the diversity and beauty of this South American country during Orchids 2025 at Kew Gardens. This annual festival is a vibrant celebration of colour and warmth to brighten up the winter months but you only have a couple of days left to see it, the annual Orchid Festival closes on 2 March.
Corteo at The Royal Albert Hall
Also closing soon is Corteo, by the Canadian circus group Cirque du Soleil at the Royal Albert Hall. This long-running show brings a never-seen-before seating arrangement to the famous performance space that splits the grand hall in half. Corteo closes on 3 March.
Drum Tao
Head to Sadler’s Wells this month to see the extraordinary Japanese drumming ensemble Drum Tao take to the stage. Drum Tao perform The Dream from 11 to 15 March.

The Little Prince
The beloved children’s tale of the young prince who travels between planets, including Earth, has been adapted for stage at the London Coliseum. Promising dance, aerial acrobatics and clever video mapping technology, this popular story by Antoine De Saint-Exupéry will only be running from 12 to 16 March so get your tickets quick.
Scissorhandz
Scissorhandz is a musical parody tribute to Tim Burton’s character Edward Scissorhands produced by produced by the iconic Michelle Visage and *NSYNC’s Lance Bass. Expect lots of singalong favourites from the 90’s and 00’s. The show runs until 29 March and is recommended for children aged 12+.
London Festival of Railway Modelling
Model railway enthusiasts should head to Alexandra Palace for the London Festival of Railway Modelling where more than 35 exhibitions will be showing off their layouts in various scales and gauges. The festival takes place on the 15 and 16 March.
Retro Games Fair
More than 1,000 video gaming items are available to buy at the Retro Games Fair including consoles, accessories and barter arcades. The fair will take place on 16 March at the Royal National Hotel in Bloomsbury.
The Robot Zoo at the Horniman Museum
Larger-than-life animals have taken over the Horniman Museum for the museum’s new exhibition, The Robot Zoo.
Learn why grasshoppers leap so high, how bats see at night and how chameleons change colour in this fun-filled exhibit for kids. Don’t miss the specially commissioned interactive murals and the interactive experience that allows you to shoot a chameleon’s ‘tongue-gun’.
The Robot Zoo exhibition runs until 2 November.

Family Welcome Weekend at the National Gallery
To mark the opening of the Roden Centre for Creative Learning, the National Gallery on Trafalgar Square are hosting a weekend of creativity and family fun. Take part in drawing sessions, craft workshops, a family-focused Decoding pictures tour and more.

Magical Mischief at the Harry Potter Warner Bros studio

Super Science! at Tower Bridge
For a guaranteed good time head to London’s Tower Bridge on Saturday 8 March to take part in their Super Science! workshop for families. Held to celebrate British Science Week, visitors young and old can visit the bridge’s Engine Rooms and learn how the Victorian coal boilers work and how water was used to make Tower Bridge move.
The drop-in activities are included in the entrance ticket and take place between 10am and 4pm.
Making Egypt at the Young V&A
Making Egypt, the new exhibition at the Young V&A, explores ancient Egypt’s creativity and how it continues to influence art, design and popular culture today.
Much like last year’s (excellent) Myths to Manga exhibition, Making Egypt will link antique items from the V&A archives with modern phenomena: what influence has Egyptian design hand on Minecraft for example. Highlights from the V&A vaults include the fully painted inner sarcophagus of Princess Sopdet-em-haawt.

London’s Holi Festival 2025
Celebrate the arrival of the spring season with India’s most colourful festival, Holi. There are Holi events taking place around London (Waterlow Park in Highgate is another option) but we’re fans of this family-friendly day of music, colour and fun at Hackney Bridge.
Enjoy live dhol and band performances, savour delicious street food and “play” Holi with safe colours and water balloons.
London’s Holi Festival takes place on 15 March.
Dino Disco at the Natural History Museum
Show off your best moves at the Dino Disco at the Natural History Museum on Friday 28 March. Put on a pair of headphones and dance in the museum’s Hintze Hall to one of the three different DJs playing.
Splash! at the Design Museum
Celebrate the a Century of Swimming and Style at the Design Museum’s latest exhibition. Splash! explores swimming pools, lidos and nature and examines how design influences our experiences of swimming in each. The exhibition opens on 28 March and runs until 17 August and, if you’re feeling inspired post-museum visit, then here’s a selection of the best swimming pools and lidos in London to enjoy.
Pirates at The National Maritime Museum
Get ready for a swashbuckling adventure at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich this month with the opening of the latest exhibition all about pirates. The exhibition explores real life pirates as well as characters from books, TV and film (Orlando Bloom’s costume from the Pirates of the Caribbean is on display) and questions whether there was more to pirate life than simply searching for buried treasure.
The exhibition opens on 29 March and runs until 4 January 2026.
World Pig Day weekender at London Zoo
Dive into the fascinating world of pigs – from red river hogs and warthogs to babirusa and mangalitsa pigs – when you visit London Zoo this month. For three days, from 1 to 3 March, the ZSL London Zoo is hosting fun activities and events dedicated to World Pig Day.

Comedy Club 4 Kids
One of the best things to do in London this March is the laugh-out-loud Comedy Club 4 Kids, which gets some of the best comedians in the business to put on family-friendly shows that are “almost like a normal comedy club….just without the rude bits”.
In March the Comedy Club takes place on 16 March in the Park Theatre, Finsbury Park and 30 March at the Arts Depot in North London.
Disney Jr. Live on Tour: Let’s Play
Join Mickey Mouse and some of his best friends at the Southbank Centre this month for a playdate at the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse – if only the London weather didn’t keep interrupting the fun.
Disney Jr. Live on Tour takes place on 15 and 16 March and runs for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Picasso Printmaker at The British Museum
It’s your final chance to see Picasso Printmaker at The British Museum. The exhibition, which closes on 30 March, explores how artist Pablo Picasso made over 2,400 prints during his career. A good one to visit with teens in London.
Vogue: Inventing the Runway
If you haven’t seen the King’s Cross exhibition Vogue: Inventing the Runway yet then make sure you do before it closes on 26 April. The immersive exhibition explore the history of the fashion runway show from the early 20th century to present day.
